Torchlight 2 Best Mods

Posted on  by  admin

I'm trying for the third or fourth time to make it through the Elite difficult level in Torchlight 2, and as usual, I'm unable to proceed past the second stage of act 1 (the Estherian Steppes). This time through I'm trying out a two-handed engineer, which I've had good success with on other difficulty levels. However, my character simply cannot stay alive against the monsters I'm fighting. The Healing Bot, for example, simply cannot provide enough heal points fast enough, and I inevitably run out of healing potions. My problems typically go one of two ways:.I load up on defense points (Vitality), but this results in a noodle armed character who cannot deal near enough damage to make progress.I load up on offense points (Strength), but this makes my character extremely vulnerable, especially to mobs and champion monsters. The damage I deal is still considerably less than it would be in a lower difficulty level.Long story short, what should I be focusing on to survive (and eventually beat) the game in Elite difficulty? I know the game says I should expect to die a lot at this difficult level, but the brick wall I find myself up against seems impassible. Firstly this mode WILL require you to be carefule more than the others.

The damage spike from the monsters means you are vulnerable to be OHKO(One-hit KO) with certain monsters. The difficulty is visible from the beginning.

So here is the excerpt from a thread I had started on the official forums. Credits to miniminionette on runic games forums.Always kite the mobs around. You'll take too much damage if you stick to one place.

Every class has some form of escape mechanism, ala, 'oh shit' buttons; learn to use them effectively in the offense/defense.Every class has some form of Crowd Control, whether through slows, stuns, immobilization or other effects. Use them efficiently!.Summons are your HCE char's best friend! Always have 2 - 3 summon spells on your pet to help mitigate some damage.During Boss Fights, focus on the trash mobs first, boss later.

They do more damage than the boss due to their quantity.Always let your pet start every battle if you are unfamiliar with the boss mechanics. Don't leeroy the fight. Study the battlefield. If you cant stack ADR (all damage reduction), stack% Reflect Gems on your gear instead; most of the damage you'll receive will be ranged attacks.A shield is your best friend, always have one in handy for very tight fights.Target Priority during trash mobs are:Chargers, Casters, Mobbers and anything else.

Chargers first because casters in general have predictable attacks and you can avoid them, chargers can sometimes put you in corners leading to death.Always be at least 3 - 5 levels ahead of the mobs; those extra levels help.Town Portal whenever possible; no shame in running away to fight another day. I think #9 is bad advice for two reasons. Everything else looks good though. First, many enemies do more than enough damage to one-shot you several times over, even if you are 5-10 levels higher than it. There is no substitute for learning enemies and attack patterns and which ones you should never get hit. A level advantage doesn't give you any more damage reduction or armor, only some additional HP and some more stat points. In addition, if you plan to play the endgame, you should expect level 120 mobs while you are capped at 100.–Feb 17 '13 at 20:48.

Actually, I say that precisely because I play HCE exclusively. If you can't handle mobs your own level or 1 level higher, your build isn't cut out for HCE. If you try to maintain a 3-5 level advantage, you will bore yourself to tears - I know because I have tried it, and it still didn't help. Being overlevelled is simply a waste of time. I had a level 50 HCE character get one-shot by a level 43 rock troll.

3-5 levels do not matter compared to a sensible build, good gear, and smart play. In my case I got overconfident while farming and was rushing by enemies without killing them.–Feb 25 '13 at 17:02.

Torchlight 2 Good Mods

I can only assume other people are having issues with mods and multiplayer considering how many times I've had to explain this process over the past week. This is basically to save myself some time, and hopefully save a few of you some headaches as well. Getting all set up.

Everyone will have to sync to the host when they try to join a game, but you can iron out several connectivity kinks by having everyone download each mod before they launch the game. Make a list of mods to give anyone joining your game and give the priority order to avoid compatibility issues. Make sure that everyone launches the game with mods and not the vanilla client. The mod order is very important. Some mods do not require that they be in any particular position, but some do.

Be sure to read the mod's page on the Steam Workshop to see if the author recommends a particular placement. Sometimes these recommendations will be found in the comments section, and sometimes they are found in the mod loader.

Keep an eye out!Seeing modded multiplayer gamesJoining your friends' games and joining pub games are entirely different ballparks due to the mod list and order system. Finding public games with mods you're interested in playing with requires choosing mod collections at the top of the internet lobby and seeing what is available. Finding games with the right combination of mods can be difficult, to say the least.Joining a game with friends is much easier than finding a compatible pub, but it is not as simple as with vanilla Torchlight 2. Ensure the host's Runic account is on your contact list in-game.

If you do not see their game on the list, click on their name and then 'Show Game'. If there is no option to show your contact's game, search for the game name. If there are still no results, double-check that you both have the same mods and that they are in the same order.

If there is no 'Join' option when you click on a game, look at the top of your screen for a small wrench icon. The wrench icon syncs your client to the host's mods so there are no compatibility issues during play. Your client will restart and you should be able to join with no problem. If you cannot see your friend's game, double-check your mod list and relaunch.Stop crashing! Whatever.Since I've been poking around with so many mods, I've had more crashes in Torchlight 2 than I have had with any other game in the past few years. Solving your crashing issues can be complicated, but the easiest way is to boot the game with a single mod, test it in multiplayer action, then relaunch with two mods and so on.

Steps, read them!. Boot the game only with SynergiesMOD enabled. Have a friend join your game, with only SynergiesMOD enabled. Both of you enter and exit the same map at the same time around 4 or 5 times. If there are no crashes, exit the game and boot with both SynergiesMOD and another mod.

Repeat step 2 (with the additional mod) and 3. If all is well, keep adding mods until you find the source of your problems.Sometimes crashes just happen, and they're not really something you can bet on happening. Be sure to do the steps listed above if you intend to play with more than four people. No one enjoys crashing time and time again, and I am 95% sure the in-game crashes deterred at least three friends-of-friends from ever playing again. If one of the players in your game crashes regularly in a single game session, have someone else host and see if that makes a difference.
