It was weird having all the crafting recipes from the start.If you do play it, start off at mystery lake. It's a centralish location and close to easier places like Milton in episode 1. Or you could start in Milton, but once you clean it out, youll have to move since it is in the northwest corner of the world map.The first couple of days you'll be scavenging for clothes and building hopping exclusively. You'll freeze or get killed by wolves otherwise. You only start with a full set of civilian clothes (1 of everything lower tier) at random starting location in the region you choose.Once you get some warmer clothes and tools, you can start scavenging outdoor stuff.
It took me 10-12 days to find a stupid prybar.I read a map wrong online and went in the complete opposite direction than I meant to and ended up stranding myself at the railyard.I also found out yesterday that skins can't be broken down into regular repair leather. They can only repair animal skin clothes. So I have 10 extra skins that I'm leaving there.Survival is really tense, in a good way.
They're completely updating the first two episodes of story mode and rereleasing them in December, and episode 3 is coming out shortly after that. They're changing so much that any story mode saves will be invalid.
The end of episode two needs the aurora lights to happen for it to end, so you could be dicking around many many game days to see the ending for something you're going to have to do over. Obviously you want to keep all the gear you found from the previous episodes.They added a bunch of new areas, depending on when you bought it. They also have the challenge scenario modes which seem pretty damn brutal. So I had to put down my first guy in survival. 40 days of work down the drain.I fell in the ice 3 times at forlon muskeg when I thought I could figure a way through, then I looked online and the route I went was a dead end. All my bottom clothes froze and I slept in them in a snow shelter. Caught frostbite (permanent life loss) in one spot and was at 90+ risk in another and at risk in another.

Unfortunately there isn't a suicide button, and I had to quit and delete my save. The female survivor sounds less annoything that the man so far.If you're going to kill a moose, do it in a central region, so you can do shit in the meantime. I've decided that I'd like to be able to use these new resources - along with the new motion capture equipment - to add more content and polish to Episode Three. This means it won't be ready for us to ship in December.

LOL I finished both Episode 1 & 2 but have never played Challenges before. They look to be pretty interesting. I tried for like 5 minutes last night, but it was getting late and I wanted to try to play the 2-3 hours it is supposed to take to finish a challenge in one sitting.
I'm on the fence about playing the game over again to see the new stuff in the update. I still have a few new games to play on the Playstation VR so that might keep me busy for a while. I downloaded a game that is normal and VR mode that is very similar to 'The Long Dark'. It is called 'Kona'.
It's basically the same setting in Canada.
