Skyrim

Hi thereI recently installed some 15 mods to enjoy a better way of living in tamriel. The most impressive mod, i think, would be skyrim HS 2k Textures. I installed all 5 parts of it: riften, towns, landscape dungeon and misc. The thing is: it doesn't change textures at all. There are two strange things i encountered:First: when installing the 5 parts via the NMM, i can install the first of the five (doesnt matter which one) without any warning.

When i install the second, it reads: 'a different version of skyrim HD 2k Textures has been detected. The installed version is 1.5, the new version is 1.5. Would you like to upgrade?' If i select yes, it installs this part, but deactivates the first one i installed, if i say no, it installes this part and it seems that the previous part also stays installed.Second: i installed LOOT because i thought it may detect some incompatability. In the LOOT metadata i see every single mod i installed, EXCEPT the Skyrim HD Textures mod.now, i thought maybe there is an incompatability. But i cant see which mod should interfer.

Here is my list:Climates of tamrielTHe dance of deathimmersive armorscloaks of skyrimACEHigh quality 3d maprealistic rag dollsrun for your livesenhanced lightsimmersive patrolsapocalypse, magic of skyrimunofficial skyrim patchskyuia quality world mapimmersive weaponsbecause, none of these changes textures, right? Except of climates of tamriel with the interior of houses, but that should work. Shouldn't it?Can anyone help me? I would unmeasurably grateful.ERRORRRREdited by ERRORRRR, 28 November 2014 - 01:20 PM.

They have the same problem here:but i dont understand the solution. The textures of Skyrim HD 2k mod have no plugin in my NMM. There is a guy claiming that i have to deactivate (delete) the original skyrim.esm for the 2k textures to work, because there cant be 2 textures at the same time (original and 2k), but i cant deactivate the skyrim.esm in my NMM, and deleting the file in the skyrim folder will make the game unstartable.is it possible, that i have to 'deactivate' the old textures first, thus simply installing 2k HD via NMM doesnt work? That seems odd to me, since that surely would be in the description?Edited by ERRORRRR, 28 November 2014 - 04:17 PM. That seems odd to me, since that surely would be in the description?LMAO. I'm afraid that person is either trolling, drunk, high, or all three.Skyrim 2K is a mod that consists of 'loose files'.

Loose files are those that are not packaged into archives (e.g.BSA archives), and instead go into folders such as /meshes, /textures, etc. By default, loose files will overwrite files stored in.bsa if they have the same directory and the same name. This is why they do not need a plugin; they replace, not add new things, and as the files are 'loose' and not in a.bsa, the game will automatically detect and use them. It's also impossible for loose files to be overwritten by a plugin (such as the High Res DLC), as loose files are always loaded last. For example, the directory for the vanilla head texture for the humanoid female character is:Textures.bsa/actors/character/female/femalehead.dds. (It might be textures.bsa/textures/actors.etc., but I don't have Skyrim installed right now so can't check.)If you were to install a new, modded femalehead.dds into textures/actors/character/female, the new modded one would overwrite the one found in Textures.bsa. Just by existing there, it replaces the vanilla head texture.Anyway, I've noticed this issue a lot since the Legendary version of Skyrim showed up, so I'll just post this from the CBBE FAQ, as it applies to all loose files: Go to Documents/My Games/Skyrim and open Skyrim.ini with WordPad/NotePad.

Look for the ARCHIVE section, and if you see bInvalidateOlderFiles=0, change the 0 to a 1.or delete the entire line.Hope it helps!. I recently started playing Skyrim (I know, late to the party on this one) and having the same issue. I've tried using NMM and doing it manually, but neither has worked.Thank you for your explanation!sadly, however, your advice doesn't work for me, since there is no 'bInvalidateOlderFiles=0' in my skyrim.ini under archive section.Following your logic though really leaves me wondering. How the hell can it not work then.

Should i try installing the textures manually, without the NMM, by simply extracting all files in the data folder?I haven't taken a look at that line in that.ini file, so I'll take a look at that later. If not there, I'll try adding it.If you do find a solution, please share, because this has become very irritating.
